After successfully completing the POST, the computer continues to follow the instructions in ROM to load the operating system. The computer tries to locate and load operating system files from the default drive. First, the computer looks for two operating system files: lo.sys and Msdos.sys. The microprocessor next attempts to load another operating system file, Command.com. The boot process is complete when the computer is ready to accept your commands.
