Thomas Jefferson was born in Shadwell which is now become Albemarle County Virginia on April 13, 1743. Jefferson came from a strong pedigree, his mother Jane Randolph Jefferson came from one of the first families in Virginia. Jefferson’s father Peter Jefferson was a wealthy landowner in Virginia but not in the same class as some of the wealthy planters at the time. On July 4 1826 the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson passed away peacefully at his home in Monticello.
