Many women chose to adhere to the traditional beliefs of the Cherokee people that tied the physical and spiritual world together. It emphasized the importance of community, autonomy and the power of women. We don’t read much about these women because the majority of our history was written my white men. These women had a great influence on Cherokee life. their contributions are felt by their nation.
