For almost 20 years they had become increasingly aware that Nicholas would not use his power to better facilitate the needs and demands of the Russian people but instead would use it to reinforce his position no matter what it cost the people. In the end, it was this cruel and unjustly use of power by the Tsar that became the fundamental cause of the revolution, even though other events triggered the final action.
