and what goes, they were dependent on man. In “The Yellow Wallpaper” the woman was dependent on John because he always told her what was best for her in the story. She want to visit her cousin Henry but she says that John says, “he would as soon put fireworks in my pillow case as to let me have those stimulating people about now” (Gilman). As anyone can see many women were dependent on man.
