…showed last 75 words of 1006 total…blind and the thought of his eye just gawking making him feel as if old man is "looking through him". Also when the narrator was talking about how he could stare at him while he slept and when the man sprang up in his bed asking Who's there, gives you the rounded conception that this man cannot see. If he could have seen he would have gotten out of his bed to investigate his surroundings.
