Hitler- The early years
In 1889 Austria was not what it is today. It was the centre of the Hapsburg or Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was a fairly stable place emerging from the wars of 1848 and 1866 and it was thriving culturally and a great place to be.
On the 20th of April 1889 these were the political conditions Adolf Hitler was born into. Hitler was born in a small Austrian village called Braunau-am-Inn close to the German border.

…showed last 75 words of 1113 total…the “Beer Hall Putsch”. However, this coup failed and Hitler was arrested along with some other Nazi officials and charged with treason. He used his trial to gain publicity and served under a year of a 5 year sentence. He used the time in prison to write a book called “Mein Kampf” (my struggle) which put his racial and anti-Semite views on paper. Later in Hitler’s life he would make this book the German “Bible”.
