The equal rights amendment, not an amendment of the Constitution, but if submitted it would give equal rights to the sexes. It had come close in the 70’s and early 80’s but did not succeed. Abortion so there is no correlation between the two. All the states that have an ERA have many supporters and it gives them a sense of stability that women can’t be discriminated against.
The Equal Rights Amendment would make a permanent standing on sex discrimination. There would be no if ands or but about it women would have equal rights, in the eyes of the law. Sex discrimination would not be tolerated at all.
