The Theban played that I enjoyed the most was the last play "Antigone". The play "Antigone" dealt with the gender barrier between males and females. Antigone's gender has profound affects on the meaning of her actions. In this time, women lacked power. Antigone knew if she gave her brother a proper burial it would lead to consequences, on reason is that she is a woman. Since she is a woman, she is not taken seriously.

The freedom of Greek women was extremely limited; the rules placed on women were harsh even for the ancient world. Antigone's rebellion, to Creon that is, is especially threatening becuase it upsets the gender barrier.
By refusing to be passive, she overturns on the rules of her society. She stands up for what she believes is right, no matter what others think.
